Popular Campgrounds in the Area
The city of Chamberlain lies right along I-90 and the Missouri River. It is a great spot to stop for the night on your journey across the state. With access to the river and other fun activities in the area you will not have a shortage of finding things to do.
A few of the popular campgrounds located there is Cedar Shore Resort, American Creek Campground and Als Oasis Campground.
Angostura Recreation Area
Angostura State Recreation Area is one of the few large reservoirs in western South Dakota. The lake’s crystal waters and strong fishery make it a popular vacation area.
Oahe Downstream Recreation Area
Oahe Downstream Recreation Area, located five miles north of Fort Pierre, South Dakota, is a haven for water lovers and nature enthusiasts. It is located right along the Lake Oahe and provides and amazing opportunity for fishing, hiking, biking and boating. Also nearby is Farm Island Recreation Area.
This area is also home to the State’s Capital. If you get a chance you are encouraged to go check it out. There is some breathtaking architecture.
Snake Creek Recreation Area
Located along the Missouri River, visitors to Snake Creek can enjoy boating, fishing, and camping. They have electrical and non-electrical campsites, boat launching ramps, and fish cleaning stations.
Just a few miles up the road you will also find another state park called the Buryanek Recreation Area. This area is a fantastic spot for those looking to enjoy the benefits of being right by the river.
