South Dakota is broken up into three different regions and each offer its' own unique set of characteristics. The Western Region includes Rapid City, the Black Hills, Badlands, and some of South Dakota's most popular outdoor attractions, including Mount Rushmore and the Crazy Horse Memorial.
The Central Region is graced by the State Capitol Building in Pierre, and includes the mighty Missouri River and the Oahe Dam and Downstream Recreation Area. Pheasant hunting is also a popular activity in the Central Region of South Dakota.
The Eastern Region includes the state's largest city, Sioux Falls, and the cities of Mitchell, Watertown, and Brookings. The Eastern Region also includes unique attractions like Storybook Land, the Washington Pavilion of Arts and Sciences, and the Terry Redlin Art Center.
