Sports and Recreation
Originally organized in 1989 as South Dakota’s first professional sports team, the Sioux Falls Skyforce are a fan favorite in the state. Part of the Sioux Falls community from the very beginning, the Skyforce were named by locals in a "name the team" contest, and have been locally owned since 1993. If you’re looking for the excitement and energy of a big league sports game, with the pricetag and community spirit of a local team, a Sioux Falls Skyforce game is the place to go.
The Sioux Falls Skyforce became an NBA-D team, or NBA Development Team, which means that the team is affiliated with 2 different NBA teams (The Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves), and players can be called up from the Skyforce to the NBA, or rookies from the NBA teams can see court time by playing with the Skyforce. But don’t let the term "development team" fool you, the Skyforce are a highly-skilled force of nature on the court.
In addition to the stellar ball-handling and shooting skills on the court, the Skyforce also spends quality time off the court focusing on the local community with projects like the Sky’s the Limit Youth Foundation, Operation Cares, Roger D. Larsen Benefit Golf Tournament, and a Special Forces program which distributes game tickets to children who might not otherwise be able to attend a game.
The Skyforce season runs from late November through early April, and patrons can purchase tickets in a variety of ways. Single game tickets start as low as $6, and season tickets start at just $84. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster, at the Arena Box Office, or at Lewis Drug.
