Office of Tourism’s 2011 outstanding customer service honorees

We all like to receive outstanding customer service, and that’s especially true when we’re on vacation. We can go just about anywhere in this world, so when we choose a particular place, we want the businesses in that place to appreciate us and cater to our needs.

The South Dakota Office of Tourism has an award for businesses and organizations like that. It’s called the "Great Service Star" award. This year, the award is being presented to 138 businesses and organizations in 41 communities.

In a news release, the Office of Tourism said "The Great Service Star program recognizes businesses that complete hospitality training, recognize employees for great service, and are very  accommodating to customers."

“Their commitment to customer service helps build South Dakota’s reputation for having a warm, welcoming, and professional tourism industry,” said Melissa Miller, director of the Office of Tourism. “This dedication to customer services brings visitors back to South Dakota year after year.”

Businesses interested in pursuing the Great Service Star designation are encouraged to visit http://www.sdvisit.com/programs/service/greatservice.asp.
