Partridge Hunting


Gray partridge (also known as Hungarian partridge) reside throughout the entire state of South Dakota, flocking most frequently to eastern agricultural areas and brush lands along grassy, mowed pastures. The Chukar is similar to the Gray except that it has a red bill and feet with a black necklace.

Partridges can be found in grassy areas like shelterbelts and woodlots.

Partridge Season and Location

The partridge hunting season runs from the middle of September through the beginning of January. They are located all throughout the state with the primary locations being the northern parts of the state.

Applying for a License
