Sioux Empire Fair Starts Today

The Sioux Empire Fair begins today in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and features a lineup of outstanding performers, scrumptious fair food, and entertainment for the whole family.

In it’s 70th year, the Sioux Empire Fair is celebrating a long history in the Sioux Falls area. It’s the largest fair in the state of South Dakota, and has seen nearly 7 million visitors with its line-up of entertainment, food, rides, and events.

The fair begins at noon today, and runs through 10 PM Sunday.  Events are already in full swing, with the new Miss Sioux Empire Fair, Aja Kessler, already crowned and ready to assume her duties. The entertainment is also ready to kick off tonight with comedian Jeff Dunham.

The week’s entertainment line-up includes Big and Rich, Cowboy Troy, Alice Cooper, and Peter Frampton. In addition to live entertainment each night, the midway rides are open daily, along with Old McDonald’s Farm.  Gate entrance to the fair is $5, and kids under 12 are free!  Click here for more information on the Sioux Empire Fair.

Seth Tupper was born and raised in South Dakota and earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from South Dakota State University in 2001.
