Storybook Land

Families will experience a world of imagination capturing all the myth and magic of your favorite nursery rhymes from Humpty Dumpty to Jack & Jill to the Wizard of Oz characters. Even adults will enjoy the fun and excitement it has to offer.

With over 60 larger than life exhibits, children can visit the animals at Old McDonald’s Farm, explore Captain Hook’s Ship, slide down Jack and Jill’s Hill, or visit Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Dorothy, Toto, the Tinman, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion can also be found following the yellow brick road through Storybook Land.  L. Frank Baum, the author of The Wizard of Oz, was a notable resident of Aberdeen, and his stories come alive in this enchanted attraction.

You can visit Dorothy’s house, where you’ll find a gift shop and a simulated tornado, complete with sights and sounds.  Beginning in the summer of 2009, you can also visit Storybook Land’s visitor center, which includes a courtyard, and indoor and outdoor seating.

If you’re around in July, you can participate in the annual Storybook Land Festival, featuring children’s authors, actors, storytellers, and entertainment.  Don’t miss this wonderful family attraction!
